Looking back to all Greater Lafayette snow season records to 1859, these are the snowiest & least snowy October-May periods, as well as the snowiest & least snowiest calendar years.
There has been an overall decrease in seasonal & snow season snowfall since 1859 with the snowiest snow seasons in the 1860s, 1880s & early 1900s. A resurgence occurred in the early 2010s not seen since the late 1970s to early 1980s, but have dropped off since then:
I also analyzed the frequency of single snowfall events reaching or exceeding 12” in not just Greater Lafayette, but Tippecanoe County as a whole.
Overall, the frequency of snowfall events reaching or exceeding 12” has been decreasing since 1859 after peaking in the early 1910s & then a near peak in the 1970s:
